Urban exploration has become a popular activity around the world. It’s the act of exploring man-made structures that are typically abandoned. Risks include dangerous conditions such as crumbling architecture and settled wildlife, as well as possibly entangling with the law while illegally trespassing on private property. Fortunately, the town of Hondo is offering a safer and legal way to try out urban exploration on December 12th, 2020, with a Chamber of Commerce event officially called the Tour of Vacant Buildings.
Things to Do
Tour the Charming Vacant Buildings of Hondo, Texas
With the goal of making the vacant buildings less vacant via business owners and hopefuls renting or buying the spaces, this tour is also for the curious. Those who have passed through the town of Hondo time after time and wondered what was inside certain buildings now have an exciting opportunity to find out. As a bonus, finding new ways to utilize already established spaces is a sustainable solution to growth during tough economic times. The tour includes an old bowling alley, a former department store, and a vacant public library.
