Sitting in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg provides wine aficionados with access to some of the finest Texas wines. When it comes to making the trek to visit the vineyards in the area and sample their tastings, these three wineries are definitely holding their own. Their expertise, knowledge, and skill in the art of educating the consumer are value-added pieces to a Texas wine tour.

1. Fiesta Winery

Built on love, respect, and family, Fiesta Winery was developed on the Baxter Ranch along the Colorado River in the Texas Hill Country. Family-owned for more than six generations, the winery has become a growing success. They opened their first off-site tasting room in 2012, which allowed for their expansion to a second location on Fredericksburg 290 (the “wine road.”) Each wine is handcrafted with attention to detail, ensuring that the most superior product is available from their family to yours.

2. Fat Ass Ranch and Winery

“It all started several years ago when we got married and found that perfect Texas Hill Country ranch. Those three square meals a day sure were good. It wasn’t long before we noticed our britches were fitting tighter. Even our ol’ ranch dog was gaining weight and having a heck of a time jumping into the back of the pickup. One day when we were out feeding horses, we noticed our donkey Jackson was as big as some of the horses! That’s when we looked at each other and decided that we lived on the Fat Ass Ranch.”

The name says it all! Producing unique, handcrafted wines, a stop at Fat Ass Ranch and Winery in the Texas Hill Country is one of charm, class, and a little bit of s…ass thrown in the mix. Their Wine Road 290 location makes it easy to stop in and have a tasting on a tantalizing wine tour of the area.
