The next season of “Chopped Grill Masters” will feature not one, but two San Antonio chefs! The Food Network show will play host to caterer and barbecue competitor Carlo Casanova, as well as Esaul Ramos of 2M Smokehouse – both representing Texas and the Hill Country with their amazing craft.

Season four of this unique show will pit the two against other competitors, as they cook up some Texas barbecue that you’ll wish you had smell-o-vision for! With a mission to prove which region of the U.S. makes the best barbecue, fans will see Casanova and Ramos up against their counterparts from Memphis, Kansas City, and parts of North Carolina and Texas.

In an interview with KSAT, Casanova said, “He (Ramos) is up-and-coming and has a great business while I’m more from the catering and competition world.” Casanova began the audition process in the fall of 2017 when a friend of his saw an online posting and suggested he enter. After completing the show’s questionnaire, he did a number of Skype interviews, and by February 2018, he was filming the show. Regularly competing in barbecue competitions throughout the U.S., he admits he still found himself a little intimidated by the show. The competition is not only filmed, featuring 15 other pitmasters who are skilled in their trade, but contestants are also asked to cook on the spot, incorporating ingredients which aren’t necessarily in their range. “As a caterer, you know what you’re going to cook, ” Casanova explained. “The adrenaline was high. My heart was pumping.” Casanova noted that the show was a great experience, and he is planning to host a viewing party when “Chopped Grill Masters” season four goes to air on July 31.
