Come for Utopia’s many festivities during the year. The fourth weekend in June is the Rodeo, BBQ, and Dance. The river and park provide a perfect setting for fireworks on the 4th of July. Spend your nights along the banks of the Sabinal River at the Utopia River Retreat or Clear Springs Lodging.

For the last eight years, Utopia has played host to UtopiaFest which draws an attendance ten times that of the town’s population. And that is only because they cap ticket sales at 2,000. The lineup of performers may not be from the Billboard Top 10, but on stage, there are certainly plenty of world-touring bands that may be on the brink of a breakout.

Good as the music is, it is secondary to the camaraderie felt in nature’s own amphitheater on the 1,000-acre Four Sister’s Ranch located between Garner State Park and the Lost Maples State Natural Area. UtopiaFest producers strive to provide a quality experience that allows ideas, music, and friendships to flourish. And for fans that return year after year, it delivers. This has to be paradise. Where else would the promoters have to add disclaimers like “limited cell service,” “GPS does not work in Utopia,” and “BYOB.”

Utopia definitely attracts the rich and famous. “Seven Days in Utopia” was filmed on the town’s amazing golf course which is considered one of the most beautiful nine-hole courses in Texas! With a magnificent view of the Sabinal Canyon on one side and a picturesque lake view on the other, Dr. David Cook was so inspired by its serene and scenic beauty that he wrote the book, “Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days on the Links of Utopia” on which the movie was based.
