Grant Brown, a 19-year-old man from Conroe, Texas, came to the aid of a 6-year-old boy who was attacked by a dog in front of his family home on Sunday, July 21, 2019. The child was playing with two of his neighbors in the driveway, when a pit bull attacked him. The harrowing dog attack was captured on video.

According to local media, Brown heard the child’s screams and immediately ran to assist him. “As soon as I noticed I just ran over there without thinking and I didn’t know how, but I knew I had to get the dog off of the boy,” he explained to a KPRC. Video showing Brown running up to the animal in an attempt to distract it has been aired by Click2Houston. The pit bull abruptly turns on him, after which Brown immediately runs. Subsequently, the dog chases him, closing ground quickly, pulling him down. The child’s mother told click2houston.com, “All I see is my son running up to me and he’s got his hand on his head and there’s blood coming down and everything.”

The footage above shows the 6-year-old immediately being taken down in the dog attack. As his mother explains in the video, the child has never been placed in a situation such as this before and wasn’t aware of what to do. Subsequently she and their neighbor, Grant Brown, heard his screams and came running. Grant managed to free himself from the dog, suffering bites to the back of his head as well as his hand, in addition to a number of bruises. “The dog was on top of me before I knew it and I knew I had to keep his mouth away from me,” Brown told Click2Houston.com. He received treatment at a local hospital and required staples to ensure his wounds were closed. The 6-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for a head laceration. He suffered a variety of bruising on his face but is anticipated to be alright. As a result of these attacks, the dog has been turned over to the Montgomery County Animal Control. The dog’s owner was then cited.
