We here in Texas have been known to have an affinity for avocados. We use them in many a dish, not the least of which is the guacamole that accompanies so many great meals. And before it was “hip” to have avocado toast, guess who was doing that too? They’re basically the good fat everyone’s been bragging about that we’ve had the benefit of enjoying all along. So while some people were shouting this fruit’s accolades, and some of us were saying, “Please don’t—I don’t want to have to take a loan out to afford my next avocado,” Welch’s came up with the perfect solution.

Best known for producing delicious grape juice, Welch’s has released bags of frozen, pre-cut avocados to what seems to be an appreciative audience over this past year. These little numbers will also be sold at “reasonable” numbers your wallet can support. They’ll be sold in such places as Walmart, Foodtown, and Stop and Shop. Not only will they mean you’ll have a reliable supply of the avocados you crave and love, but you won’t need to make sure you use it all that sparingly based on today’s market.

These frozen bits can be included in salad dressings and added to smoothies. For those who were concerned, they can even be thawed and mashed into a delicious guacamole. The company’s website said, “Welch’s frozen avocados are ripe-frozen so that they are always ready right when you need them. So convenient—not sliced, not diced, just perfectly hand-cut chunks and so versatile.” They come in two different sized offerings (10 ounces and 32 ounces), and their calories per serving are accounted for right on the bag. The added bonus: no prep time. If you’re scratching your head and wondering what you could possibly use these babies for, here’s a great recipe for guacamole to give them a try!
