It’s really not a secret, but Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) actually is a known derivative from grapefruit seeds. That’s understandable, as per the name, but what is unique is that the chemical extracts have the enormous ability to destroy infections, to prevent the spread of bacteria, viruses and fungal microbes, including those associated with acne. Mixed with water these extracts make efficient disinfectants for countertops, doorknobs, faucets, etc.

GSE is made from the seeds, white membrane, and pulp of the grapefruit, which is common knowledge, hence the name Grapefruit Seed Extract. Is it good for you? The chemical compounds found in grapeseed extracts are rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, which are natural immune system stimulators and fungas fighters and are very effective at the microscopic level. If you find yourself developing canker sores, thrush, gum or tooth infection, grab the GSE. Carefully drop 2-4 drops into half a cup of lukewarm water and use as a mouthwash, letting it sit in your mouth a couple of minutes before spitting out. It is bitter, but the miraculous healing properties are well worth the taste.

Grapefruit Seed Extract is very effective on certain external skin problems. One of them is the age-old toenail fungus. A strong wash, used regularly, can make a huge difference, but remember that this particular fungus takes a while to disappear as your nails grow out. Another skin problem is Psoriasis, which will respond in most cases. Depending on your overall health, both of these specified problems may need to be addressed more specifically with internal testing and treatments. This derivative from grapefruit can be used to kill parasites in your pets by putting a small amount on their feed. Please be conservative and always let your vet know if you add GSE to your pets diet.
