Situated close to Houston, Surfside Beach offers visitors free parking, allows beach driving, and beach bonfires are permitted! Start your day with a shore lunch, a swim, and feel refreshed for your journey to your next Texas beach haven.
Matagorda Bay, Galveston

With the entire island on which it’s situated being designated as a nature preserve, although this area is accessible by ferry from Galveston, Matagorda Bay sees much less traffic. Although the beaches here are designed for paddling opportunities as opposed to swimming, one can still appreciate the silence and the power of the water before ambling on to your next secluded beach.
San Jose Island, Port Aransas

This 21-mile piece of the Texas coast was formerly private property, and is now open to the public. That being said, it’s considerably less crowded than other local beaches, and offers a great opportunity for a dip and some time to yourself on the shoreline.
Mustang Island, Corpus Christi

Although Spring Break isn’t exactly a great time to make your presence known here, Mustang Island can offer a fairy desolate beach-going experience at all other times of the year. It’s white sand and sapphire-colored water draw people in for not only swimming, but also surfing and camping, and generally having a great, relaxing time.
Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville

If seclusion is the ultimate goal, Boca Chica is the ultimate Texas beach on which to achieve it. Situated in the Rio Grande Delta where its waters flow into the Gulf of Mexico, this isolated area is home to the town of Brownsville, which is the nearest populace you’ll find to this beach, and the last stop before heading there to relax and make the perfect escape.
