The all-new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado half-ton is now available in the 3.0-Liter Duramax inline six turbo diesel engine. This adds choice and versatility for full-size truck customers. Silverado continues its class-leading torque and horsepower, combined with economics and capability.
This engine is the first ever in-class six turbo diesel offered by Chevrolet in a full-sized, light-duty truck.
The Duramax engine leverages efficiency and refinements for in-line six cylinder architecture. It incorporates advanced combustion and emissions technology to optimize performance and proficiency. Duramax is priced identically to the 6.2-liter V-8; as a $2,495 premium over a 5.3-liter V-8 model; or $3,890 over a 2.7-liter turbo model.
Available in LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country trims, the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel rounds out the Silverado range of six popular choices. Each model is tailored to suit customer needs and performance efficiency, technology, and value. Rated at SAE-Certified 277-horsepower and 440 lb-ft- torque.

This magnificent truck is paired with GM’s 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. It features a centrifugal pendulum absorber torque converter that reduces vibration to improve smoothness.
Miles per gallon for the 3.0-liter 2 WD: 26 mpg at 70 mph and 40 mpg at 50 mph. For the 3.0-liter 4 WD: 24 mpg at 70 mph and 35 mpg at 50 mph.
Towing is an important part of owning a truck. Silverado owners gain additional confidence from the exhaust brake available in tow/haul-mode. The water charged air cooler, coupled with low pressure EGR reduces time to torque. The variable geometry turbocharger helps provide a greater balance of performance and efficiency. An electronically variable intake manifold helps optimize performance across the rpm board. Maximum towing is 9,300 lbs.
