It’s still hot in the Hill Country, but head north and maybe the weather will bend a bit. While you’re up there, eat some fenekia and get your OPA on at the Greek Food Festival of Dallas Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22! In its 63rd year of existence, this group has fine-tuned what it means to have a good time like the Greeks. Hosted by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 13555 Hillcrest Road at Alpha, this event is rain or shine and fun for the whole family!

Watch traditional Greek folk dancers perform routines from several different regions of Greece, ranging from the mountains of Epirus to the shores of the Dodecanese Islands. After watching other people exercise, it’s time to eat, eat, eat! Tasty vittles are endless: Paithakia (Grilled Lamb Chops), chicken or pork Souvlaki marinated shish-kabob, Greek potato Fries, Tiropita, as well as Greek wine and beer.

When your belly is full, roam around the market and pick up jewelry, sailors’ caps, icons, pottery, and more. There is also a Greek grocery store onsite to gather ingredients for your own inspired meals. Need a little culinary guidance? Watch live demonstrations and share the secrets of the perfect roasted leg of lamb, savory pastitsio, and delectable baklava! Several Byzantine music seminars will be held throughout the weekend, and a well-stocked Children’s Area is sure to keep the kiddos entertained with sand art & crafts, caricature artists, face painting, and more.
