These artists have developed a loyal fan base not only in the Lone Star State, but across the country as well. Their fans go to their live shows, listen to them on local radio, stream and purchase their music online. Their bodies of work are important to the Texas music industry as well as the country’s. From the Red Dirt sound to today’s country-rock, here are 5 performers synonymous with Texas country music today.

An Amarillo native, Kevin Fowler has seen a number of his singles climb the country charts, playing for an extensive fan base in Texas and beyond. In addition to songs like “Hell Yeah, I Like Beer,” and “Girl In A Truck,” he recently released his newest album entitled, “Barstool Stories,” which is sure to produce some more great country chart climbers you’ll come to love!

2. Pat Green

Pat Green is most definitely synonymous with Texas country music. Hailing from San Antonio, this Texas Hill Country native has become one of the hottest acts in the Lone Star State music scene. With seven studio albums, he’s taken his style of music and incorporated it into the fabric of Texas radio airplay and streaming, climbing the charts, and garnering an impressive fan base in the process.

3. Randy Rogers Band

This band has seven studio albums and two live albums to their name. No list of performers synonymous with Texas country music would be complete without the Randy Rogers Band. Randy Rogers, Geoffrey Hill, Todd Steward, Brady Black, Jon Richardson, and Les Lawless make up this Red Dirt group that originated in San Marcos.

4. Wade Bowen

Wade Bowen comes to this list from Waco, bringing his seven albums to the table with him. He’s collaborated with some heavy hitters in the past, including the Randy Rogers Band (noted above) and has since become one of the more well-known acts in the state. He recently released a 17-minute mini documentary, candidly discussing mental and physical health and well-being following a very tumultuous year. 2018 wasn’t kind to Bowen, however, he’s bounced back and come through loud and clear in 2019.

5. Cody Johnson

Cody Johnson is one of the most popular Texas artists in today’s national country music scene. Originally from Huntsville, Johnson became a huge hit with the release of “On My Way to You,” from his “Ain’t Nothin’ To It” album of January 2019. He’s released seven albums and has collaborated with Texas and national country music greats.
