Yes, New Year’s Day has just come and gone, and if you’ve been in any stores lately, you’ll see that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. But if you’re in the vicinity of San Antonio, you’ll likely be preparing for Pardi Gras – the River Walk take on Mardi Gras, happening this March!
According to local press details, 40K party- and parade-goers celebrated at the San Antonio River Walk during their 2018 March events, which featured a Royal Masquerade Gala, a Mardi Gras Artisan Show, Jazz on the River, and the Mardi Gras River Parade. Plans are now underway to repeat the festivities for 2019, and all events will be free to attend, with the exception of the gala.

This year, the Mardi Gras Artisan Show is first up, scheduled for March 1-3, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. This is an enjoyable shopping experience in which guests can meet the artisans involved while viewing their work – all in the beautiful setting of this charming Texas locale. The Royal Masquerade Gala is planned for March 1, 2019, at 7-10:00 p.m. Located at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio, this event entails formal dress, traditional Mardi Gras masks and beads, and features live music, a fantastic buffet, and fun casino games! The Bud Light Mardi Gras River Parade & Festival is scheduled for March 2, 2019, from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m. Featuring a floating parade of… well, floats, this event is a highlight of the March River Walk festivities. It sets the party atmosphere and allows revelers to enjoy the color, the mindset, and the comradery. With live music, food trucks, and entertainment, visitors are sure to find something for the whole family, and they’re encouraged to dress up in costumes, beads, and masks! And, finally, Jazz on the River is planned for March 2-5, 2019, between the hours of 7 and 9:15 p.m. Each evening, jazz bands will float along the river, including trios, brass bands, and jazz ensembles, setting an ambiance along the River Walk which is both festive and fun. Visitors are invited to reserve a river-side seat at their favorite patio for great food and awesome music!
