Those who dream of living by the beach in Texas have a multitude of great places to choose from! If refreshing swims, miles of sand dunes, and summer beach-going makes up a large part of your to-do list, you’re going to want to pay attention. Although there’s a common misconception that living in a beach town is out of most people’s league, it’s actually just the opposite. You’ll find that life in these parts is manageable and cost-effective. Not only that, it’s in Texas! To help you find a private paradise, here’s a short list of some of the best beach towns to call home in the Lone Star State. Grab your sunscreen and don’t forget your best beach towels, and hit the road to explore these charming towns

1. East Beach, Galveston

Galveston is known for being a great beach town in general, but East Beach in particular is great for festivals, live concerts, being pet-friendly, and having great amenities. It has umbrella and chair rentals, clean restrooms and even showers, and there’s also concession stands. If you’re into having a cool adult beverage on a hot Texas day, alcohol is also permitted here. Not only that, but they have an excellent sand castle competition annually, which you won’t want to miss. Living in this neck of the woods is amazing!

2. Padre Island

Rather than simply living in a beach town, why not be surrounded by beach? At Padre Island, on the Texas Gulf Coast, you’ll find that the living is quite reasonable, if you can handle crowds. Part of living on or at the beach means understanding that others share your enthusiasm and passion for the same place, only they just visit, where you’re able to stay full-time. Swimmers, surfers, and fishermen make great use of the space at Padre Island, and you can too, only you’ll get the pleasure of a year-round stay.

3. Rockport

Although this Texas town has seen its share of disastrous times, Rockport is known as a strong beach town with equally strong roots. Hit hard during Hurricane Harvey, this town has bounced back since then, having some unique shops, great restaurants, and homes that will make you wonder what took you so long to move. As far as a beach goes, this place is rich in its bird species as well as its fishing opportunities. Living here is just like they say… “Life’s a beach!”
