Hill Country Trip Guide: Hamilton Pool

Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country flows a majestic 50′ waterfall into an exquisite naturally occurring pool, known as Hamilton Pool. Hamilton Pool Preserve is one of Travis County’s must-see places and is a great place for visitors to cool off during Texas’ overwhelmingly hot summer months. It’s emerald green waters and lush vegetation is certainly a sight for sore eyes and the environment brings its visitors a sort of peaceful serenity.

Now, with the water levels being back to normal, Hamilton pool has become so popular the Travis County Parks system is now requiring reservations. In fact, according to Travis County Parks, our beloved swimming hole is booked up to two weeks out. Don’t get discouraged though, a visit to Hamilton Pool is well worth the wait.

Here is how you go about planning your trip: there are two time slots for which you can claim your spot, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Book your trip to Hamilton Pool, visit Travis County Parks to make an online reservation. There is a reservation fee to be paid online, but entrance to the Preserve is paid onsite with either cash or a local check. According to Travis County Parks, reservation fees are non-refundable, reservation dates cannot be changed, and the reservation includes one vehicle only.
