This city has what you need for a restful vacation. The downtown core, especially near the Riverwalk, has everything from extremely posh and high-end to budget-deluxe for families. All downtown hotels do their best in terms of hospitality and charm. Their staff are friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to ensure your stay in their city is a great one. Some will have views of the river, others will simply look out over the city that they love, and all will have varying amenities, of course. You might even run into one or two of the San Antonio Spurs while you’re in town! Here’s a great list of accommodations in the area to check out, complete with reviews.
Dining in San Antonio

In San Antonio, your food selections will have your head spinning! But it’s all good – take your time, we’ll wait. Traditional pastries, mariachi music, and a Tecate can be found at the Mi Tierra landmark restaurant, which opened in 1941 as a 3-table cafe in the Mercado. Or how about a steak dinner at the Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden, featuring Texas ranch style grilled cuisine, farm-to-table, and a variety of wines and beers to enjoy. It’s housed in the old Pearl Brewery, too, preserving many of its original elements. And last but not least, a catered boat tour is always an option! If you’re in a group and would like to secure a tour of the river, boats can be rented for a reasonable, flat fee, and many local restaurants are available to cater your guided tour. This might be a better option for evening dining – when the lights and the beauty really shine on the Riverwalk.

Make your way to the Riverwalk in San Antonio and you won’t be disappointed. It winds its way through the heart of downtown and features lots of shops, restaurants, and live entertainment to take in. If you’re visiting Mission Reach, you’ll find Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo – the largest one in the city. You’ll also find eight miles of walking paths through well-designed and well-manicured public space. And if art is what you seek, the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Witte Museum offer extensive collections, interactive science, natural history, and Texas heritage. Speaking of history, you can’t get all the way to San Antonio and not visit the Alamo. Tour the historic mission and experience where Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, and the Alamo Defenders held off General Santa Anna’s forces for 13 days. Three hundred years of Texas history is on display here and won’t disappoint. San Antonio is also home to two awesome theme parks – Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld San Antonio – both just outside of the city. And for the sports fan, the San Antonio Spurs play at the AT&T Center! Top that off with a great outdoor vendor area complete with local food trucks, a large outdoor screen for game broadcasts the game, and a stage for live entertainment and you can’t beat it! Stay, eat, and play in San Antonio, deep in the heart of Texas, where you get so much more than you imagined!
