Comfort, Texas is centrally located between Fredericksburg, Boerne, and Kerrville, and is only minutes from San Antonio. It is a popular tourist area containing several campsites along the Guadalupe River. Tourists can enjoy camping, fishing, and swimming during the warmers months, and hunt during the colder months of fall and winter. Comfort shopping is enjoyed throughout the year. The city is known for its antique shopping, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and the local winery. Comfort is home to Flat Rock Ranch which has mountain biking and the Buckhorn Golf Course.
The Comfort area is home to one of the 22 Texas Hill Country wineries. Comfort is also close to many breath taking scenic drives. Some of these drives include the 17 mile drive to Kerrville, the short scenic drive to Bandera, Texas, and the drive to Boerne, Texas.
13 miles north of Comfort is the Old Tunnel Park, which has a bat emergence at sundown and great trails in the park. The bat emergence holds hundreds of thousands of bats that emerge all at the same time.
One of Comfort’s most popular events is their Scarecrow Invasion, which is from October 15th to October 31st. During this time scarecrows of all sorts fill the yards of residents and businesses. Some of these scarecrows feature nursery rhymes and other popular themes.
Some other popular events include Christmas in Comfort, the Fourth of July Parade, and the Treue Der Union Monument.
