Incredibly Preserved Event Space in Austin Finds New Life

Amidst an array of other warehouses and East Austin remodels, you can find Fair Market, a 16,000 square foot preservation masterpiece that plays host to events of all shapes and sizes. It debuted in 2014 just in time for the annual South By Southwest music festival, and served as a remarkable venue for soundscapes in the event.

Its wasn’t long ago, however, that the building appeared to be in disarray. By retaining its early-20th century exterior, along with a batten cottage and greenspace on the same lot out back in the courtyard, the event space eventually caught the eye of Preservation Austin who awarded it a Preservation Merit Award recipient last year by citing the “remarkable transformation.”

Since then, Fair Market has hosted a multitude of family-friendly events to go with concerts, like the Renegade Craft Fair or last weekend’s Startup Games.

11E5 LLC. partnered to invest thoroughly in an effort to ensure longevity with the space. It’s one of many remodeled buildings East of Austin finding new life, that have found friendly neighbors in the nearby Corazon development.

Not only does the event serve as a space for bazaars and live music, but the charming old building is also available to host the occasional wedding.

All in all, the award-winning space feels bright and welcoming, and preserves the spirit of the neighborhood while inviting new patrons who might not otherwise roll through the area.
