The poppies are in full bloom and ready to welcome visitors to their majestic beauty among towns such as Castroville, Texas. Known as “The Little Alsace of Texas,” this charming town is full of adventures to unlock among its historic heritage, as well as picturesque scenery unlike any other.
Nestled in the Texas Hill Country just 2o minutes west of San Antonio, this quaint town is the perfect weekend getaway or quick day trip to bask in the abundant poppies decorating the countryside with its colorful blooms. One of the oldest structures to be found in Texas is located in Castroville, according to its Facebook page. “The Steinbach House was built in the 1600s and brought over to Castroville from Alsace, France piece by piece in the 90s.”
“Founded in 1844 by Henri Castro, for whom the town is named,” shares its website, Castroville is the perfect place to feel as if you’ve stepped into a small town in France as you stop and bask in the beauty of its poppies lining the roads and beautiful homes along the way.
