Theodor Seuss Geisel is a name that should sound vaguely familiar. If it doesn’t, perhaps your childhood stories were instead penned by the likes of A.A. Milne or Beatrix Potter and the like. However, for those who just had a lightbulb come on at the mention of that middle name, this was the real name of Dr. Seuss, who both wrote and illustrated numerous children’s books. His works were fantastical, and his illustrations brought them to life. Now, you’ll be given the opportunity to literally step into a collection of his works in the traveling Dr. Suess exhibit which is coming to Houston.

Beginning in October, a maze based on the book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” will begin touring in Toronto, Ontario, in Canada, and make its way down into the U.S. It will be stopping in places such as Houston, Texas, Boston, Massachusetts, and Seattle, Washington, among others. The 15,000 square foot traveling exhibit appears to be worthy of a road trip if you happen to live some distance from one of its tour stops. The book from which it takes its inspiration encouraged children to explore, and the exhibit will have familiar material from such other Dr. Seuss books as “The Lorax,” “If I Ran The Circus,” and even “Horton Hears A Who!”

“The Cat In The Hat,” will also be on display. Although full details on the traveling exhibit, its stops, times, and admission prices have yet to be fully divulged, it doesn’t hurt to plan ahead! Something which has been in the works for over two years now, the Dr. Seuss Experience, as it’s called, not only promises to be entertaining and lively but will also bring art to life. There’s been no word as of yet with respect to where, specifically, in Houston this installation will present itself, however, Dr. Seuss Enterprises together with Kilburn Live are sure to produce an exhibit worthy of his work and words, his imagination, and all of his wonderfully unique inspiration!
