After four decades of music and more than 60 albums to their name, Lynyrd Skynyrd announced in 2018 that they would be embarking on their “Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour.” To date, that tour has made more than 100 American stops, and the shows don’t end through 2020!

“We’ve said we want to play every venue and market we’ve ever visited around the world one last time and even some places we haven’t, so we get to see all of Skynyrd Nation,” lead singer Johnny Van Zant stated in a release. “We are getting close!” Tickets for the upcoming U.S. shows for the Lynyrd Skynyrd “Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour” go on sale Friday, December 6, 2019. The last time the band played in Texas was in May of this year, at Kaboo Texas 2019, at the AT&T stadium in Arlington. If this tour is their final live event series, you may want to get tickets for their December show in Dallas on New Year’s Eve. It might be the last time they ever play in the Lone Star State!

Shared on the official Lynyrd Skynyrd YouTube channel, the video above for “Gimme Three Steps” was filmed live in concert in Jacksonville, Florida (their home town). It was the first time they performed their first two albums live in their entirety. As you can see, the fans were definitely on board for it! Likewise, their upcoming NHL Winter Classic New Year’s Eve Kickoff Concert in Dallas is sure to be one of the band’s more anticipated shows and quite possibly the final time they’ll play in Texas. The 2020 tour has no Lone Star State stops, so fans of the band need to get their butts in gear to get tickets if this is a priority in life! Deriving its name from the Lynyrd Skynyrd song “The Last Of The Street Survivors” from their fifth studio album entitled “Street Survivors,” the 2020 tour dates that were recently announced are all U.S. stops. Additional international dates are expected to be announced soon. The band formed in 1964 under the original name of My Backyard. They toured for five years, making lineup changes and using different names until they landed on Lynyrd Skynyrd and went with it in 1969. They released their first album in ’73, the beginning of a decade that would see them achieve countless hits. Sadly, in 1977, band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines were killed in a plane crash, which effectively put an end to their music. But, 10 years later, Ronnie’s brother Johnny helped to put on a reunion tour as the band’s lead vocalist, and the band went on to continue recording and touring. They announced the farewell tour in January 2018 and have recently released a 17-track live album that was recorded at their Jacksonville, Florida show. It was their fifteenth album together with the existing member roster.
