Molly Bears Bring Hope & Healing to Families Grieving a Lost Infant

By  |

Molly Bears is a story that pulls at your heartstrings and strives to bring hope and healing to families dealing with the unimaginable loss of their infant. Started by Bridget Crews, the non-profit organization has been creating the unique, weighted teddy bears since August 2010 for families that have gone through the devastating loss of an infant.

In an effort to help other “angel families,” Crews felt the need to begin this important mission after the loss of her own angel, Molly Christine, at 34 weeks on May 30, 2010. After being given a weighted bear, Crews got the idea to make the bear the same weight as Molly. “I bought a shell and a package of rice,” Crews said. “In the middle of the produce aisle, I carefully weighed rice, fluff, and the shell. I am sure people thought I was crazy, but I did not care. I went home and with my children and husband, we created the very first Molly Bear.”

The YouTube video above shares the heartwarming stories of others who have gone through the same loss. They share how grateful they are to Crews and her strength to create such an impactful way of helping others in their time of grief and bring hope, healing, and support to them during this difficult time in their life.

With over 14,000 Molly Bears, shipped to 36 countries, and over 1,000 more bears waiting in production, it’s no wonder this mission is reaching worldwide attention and creating communities of support and comfort for families who need to know they are not alone. Due to the high demand, there is a waiting list you can sign up for on the Molly Bears website on the 30th of each month (with the exception of February, which is counting down to open on February 28 at 7 a.m. (EST)). Only 150 orders will be accepted this month. “Complete details about our process can be found here,” shared their Facebook page.
