NPSOT has a lot of information about planting this and other colorful and useful plants even as invasive plants wreak havoc in Texas. Their very interesting meetings are open to anyone and held monthly at Memorial Presbyterian Church.

And then, there are the Friends of Lady Bird Nature Center.

Fredericksburg is crazy about plants, birds, and butterflies, and the Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park hosts this Pollinator Garden. The plants here attract insects which seek out their special pollens and nectars. The flowers on this late-blooming Thoroughwort smell of sweet honey and are buzzing with insects of all kinds. The Friends of the Fredericksburg Nature Center also built and maintains a Nature Trail at the park.
