Rick Perry’s Progress on ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Week one of “Dancing with the Stars” is over. The former Texas Governor Rick Perry didn’t quite put his best foot forward last Monday night as the 23rd season of “Dancing with the Stars” premiered.  Thirteen contestants danced across the stage. Poor Rick received the lowest scores of the evening, getting only 20 out of 40 points.  You have to admit, though, he looked great, the stage was awesome and decorated to look like a state fair with a corny dog stand. (Sadly, it was not Fletcher’s.)

The music was downright Texan. Perry and his lovely partner, Emma Slater, performed the cha-cha to the song “God Blessed Texas.” He was stiff, nervous, and as head judge, Len Goodman, stated, “a bit like a pedestrian.” There was one happy face in the crowd, though, Perry’s beautiful daughter Sydney, a bride to be.  Her father’s goal is to look good on the dance floor at her upcoming wedding.

The host of the show, Tom Bergeron, asked the former Texas governor if dancing was harder than politics. Perry’s answer surprised us all with his answer. “The Presidential debate ain’t even in the same class,” Perry commented. Then he added, “Oh, man, come on, this is crazy good. This is as good as it gets.” After all, four judges gave Perry four “5” score paddles in a row. Being a good sport, Perry shouted out “Five, I love you.  Awesome!”

Make sure you watch the results show this Monday night on ABC to see who gets the boot. The results may just surprise the heck out of y’all.
