Hosting the ultimate backyard barbecue in the Texas Hill Country, chef-owner of Contigo, Andrew Wiseheart, and chef-owner of Franklin Barbecue, Aaron Franklin, join Matty Matheson of “MUNCHIES & Friends” in Austin to cook up a storm. If you daydream of barbecue done right, put on your bib and watch this video!

Filmed at Contigo in Austin, the backyard barbecue consisted of menu items such as Cholula braised short ribs and Franklin Barbecue’s signature brisket, among the local favorites. Shared on the MUNCHIES YouTube channel, this three-minute feature covers just enough to tempt the taste buds and get the proverbial juices flowing.

The concept of a backyard barbecue is nothing new in Texas or the Hill Country for that matter. In fact, it’s practically a summer staple. However, the bringing together of everyone for a feast such as this prepared by chefs of this caliber is something that is a rare treat indeed. The sides that pair so nicely with all of the meat at the table (prepare yourselves…this isn’t for the faint of heart) were also a welcomed treat. They included grilled corn on the cob, a unique and cool cucumber mixture, a tomato-based salad, and the bread used for the thinly-sliced, slow-cooked meat. It all came together in one Texas-style barbecue bonanza with smiling faces and full bellies all around. If you’re looking to host a similar event in your own backyard, the meat selections and variety of sides you can take from this video, not to mention the seasoning and cooking tips, will bring your Texas barbecue to a whole other level!
