A Table of Police Officers Were Having a Terrible Day, Until This Red Robin Waitress Paid It Forward

When this Red Robin waitress noticed a table of nine police officers looking solemn, she paid it forward with this act of kindness.

Ohio SWAT Officer Steven Smith was recently buried in Columbus after being killed in the line of duty. Nine officers in his unit attended his funeral, and solemnly went to the local Red Robin afterwards to have lunch and share stories of his memory. They sat in Jessica Dunbar’s section.

As her father is a retired police officer, news of Steven Smith’s death struck Dunbar hard before these officers even sat in her section that day. However, upon seeing them, she decided that these men would not be paying for the lunch that day – all of the $123 bill was on her.

The thoughtful Red Robin waitress left the check on their table with a note on the back, saying, “Officers, Your bill is on me today, I can’t imagine the day you all have had, let alone what you go through every day. I hope your days get better. So much respect #WeSeeYou, #PoliceLivesMatter, #RIPOfficerSmith.”

The full story is recounted in the video below, and may this act of kindness remind you that every day, you can find time to make someone’s day, too.
